Validity of external observation examination by teachers during vision screening for preschool children

Background: A vision-screening program is effective in prevention of vision impairment. The validity screening conducted by nurses, medical assistants, and teachers has been previously reported. However, the preschool conducting external eye observations children not widely investigated. This study aimed to determine observation tests, including behavior health, children.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, from Kemajuan Masyarakat kindergarten Klang Valley, Malaysia, were randomly allocated (n = 30) or control groups. group underwent theory training with an optometrist practical sessions on screening, while received only brief verbal instructions steps conduct screening. After briefing, both groups tests at their kindergartens aged 4–6 years. same procedure was repeated optometrists verify results teachers. Results: total 700 screened 60 optometrists. Teachers displayed high for ocular sensitivity (66.67% versus 66.67%), specificity (95.21% 95.54%), negative predictive value (99.41% 99.69%). positive slightly higher (19.05%) than (11.76%). Conclusions: Preschool competently observed health children. module important, a revision current needed.
